ITALIA WINE TASTING WITH SMALL VINEYARDS

2006 Tre Donne Arneis
Becoming increasingly important in Europe, Roero Arneis is a wine that seemingly satisfies everyone. It is crisp and clean, with a terrific cleanliness that delights the palate of white wine lovers, but as this is Arneis, the mouth-feel is full and lush, even without oak. So much so, in fact it is called il Barolo Bianco (the white Barolo) by its many admirers, because of its surprising weight and satisfaction in the mouth. A very rare grape, it nearly became extinct thirty years ago, but today it is thriving, and happily so. Blushing with fresh grass, flowers, and ripe pear, Tre Donne has done it again, as this wine has won numerous awards in Europe. 2500 cases produced.
2007 Perazzeta 'Sara' Bianco
If there is such thing as a Super-Tuscan white wine, Alessandro Bocci's counterpart to the wildly successful Sara Sangiovese would certainly qualify. Made from a fascinating blend of two classic Tuscan varietals -- Trebbiano and Malvasia, and two classic French varietals -- Chardonnay and Sauvignon, each of the four wines are vinified separately, then blended slowly to test their integration at each step. Graced with aromas of lemon zest, sage, a touch of mango and dried pineapple, Sara Bianco delivers delightfully heady complexity, no meditation required. Just 250 cases made. 2006 Forte Canto Salice SalentinoFrom 38 year-old master winemaker Massimiliano Apollonio comes this stunning Salice Salentino from Forte Canto. Massimiliano believes that Negroamaro is Puglia's most important varietal, and it showcases dynamically in this delicious value from Italy's deep south. Dusty plum, black cherry, and wild coriander aromas emanate from the glass, and somehow remind one of the warm, scented North African trade winds that reach the Salento peninsula from the Mediterranean. Made from younger vines than his decadent Terre del Grico Salice, this is a fresh, lovely wine that will pair well with robust, spicy meats and seafoods.
2006 Perazzeta 'Sara' Sangiovese
Alessandro Bocci, owner and winemaker at Perazzeta, is in our opinion, making some of the best wines in all of Tuscany right now. Located in Montecucco just south of Montalcino, his wines have tremendous power, tension, and assertive terroir. Bright, stinging cherry, crisp acidity, and tantalizing earth tones make this pretty, yet interesting wine hard to resist. The everyday wine of the estate, 'Sara' is named after his teenage daughter, and is a tremenous follow-up to his wildly popular 'Rita' (named after his wife). 1000 cases produced.

VALENTINE'S DAY AT VINIDEUS

SAINT VALENTIN at VINIDEUS

Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. In the West, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery. The holiday is named after two among the numerous Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

Bring your honey for a romantic evening at our cozy place.

Vitteaut Alberti, Crémant Blanc de Blanc
80% Chardonnay + 20% Aligoté.Assembly of grapes from the Cote de Beaune and the CoteChalonnaise regions of Burgundy.Color is sparkling gold, delicate, small bubbles, outerring of surface bubbles, intense nose, very fruity, full, creamy flavor andremarkably crisp. A delicately elegant sparkling wine. Excellent choice fora cocktail.

Vitteaut Alberti, Crémant Rosé Brut
100% Pinot noir.Assembly of grapes from the Cote de Beaune and the CoteChalonnaise regions of Burgundy. The color is rose petal pink. The nose is theexpression of pinot noir , complex small red fruit and berry aromas. Can be enjoyed as a cocktail but also a great sparkling wine toaccompany meals, including dessert.

Velours de Nuits, Cassis:
The preparation of Velours de Nuits, Cassis comes from a long line oftraditional recipes of Burgundian crème de cassis, which calls for a slowmaceration of black current berries in wine. This best reveals the subtle aromasand wild character of black currant. The alcohol level of 5% allows for the purefruit expression to come through.Cassis can be enjoyed as a traditional Kir, mixing it with a very dry white wine(1/5 cassis to 4/5 white wine). For the sparkling version, simply substitutecrémant blanc de blanc for the still wine. Lesser known, but popular in Burgundy is the cardinal where the same proportion of cassis is added to a Beaujolais redwine.
Other great drink ideas:Cassis with sparkling or still waterCassis and clear soda popCassis and orange juiceCassis and Earl Grey iced teaCassis milkshake

Special Cocktail :
First we take a canard of sugar soaked in cassis. This is a tradition in France. The French take a sugar cube and soak it in all types of alcohol - with the stronger alcohols like calvados or other brandies, the sugar will help soften the bite. This is not necessary with this excellent cassis but is delicious and a beautiful presentation. We put the canard in the flute and fill it with Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine. A cherry is placed on the top of the flute - with a toothpick holding it over the flute. The cherry can be eaten directly, offered to your amoureux or place it in the flute with the sugar and sparkling wine. The bubbles can push the cherry from the bottom to the top and gravity can let it fall again. In any case, the mix of Crémant, cassis, sugar and cherry is beautiful and an enchanting mix for one of the most romantic of occasions.

IPANEMIA

IPANEMIA
Founded in 2003 as a duo with vocalist Alice Kollinzas and guitarist Thomas Niebrzydowski, Ipanemia set out to rekindle the roots of Brazilian jazz. Although originally performing an exclusively Bossa Nova repertoire, the band expanded its sound with the addition of James cook on double bass and drummer Jolie Clausen. These additions led to a repertoire which included original compositions as well as jazz and show tune standards. Ipanemia creates a relaxed atmosphere with tongue-in-cheek humor and an unexpectedly delightful presence.

TIM CONNELL

Tim Connell
A graduate of the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music and a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist with over twenty years professional performance experience, Tim has been immersed in a variety of musical styles since he first began classical piano lessons at age seven. While working as a pianist and bassist in Boston, Tim delved deeply into the traditional Irish music of his youth, studying with renowned composer Michael O'Suilleabhain and master flutist Meabh Ni Fhuarthain. This work led him to the mandolin, and also to New England Conservatory, where he studied classical mandolin with Robert Sullivan, Jewish traditional music with klezmer guru Hankus Netsky, and modern improvisation with Ran Blake, receiving his Masters degree in 1997. While at NEC, Tim first heard the recordings of the great Brazilian choro mandolinist, Jacob do Bandolim, which led him to study this music with Brazilian choro masters Paulo Sa and Hamilton de Holanda, and with the legendary American mandolinist Mike Marshall. Tim currently lives in Portland, Oregon and performs choro and gypsy jazz with Rio Con Brio and Clambake, Irish music with The Yellers, Portuguese fado with Bossa do Fado, classical and Latin music with Toscana, and original compositions with Terracoustic. His study of Brazilian and Irish music, combined with his many years as a bassist and pianist have helped Tim synthesize a personal style on the mandolin which is harmonically advanced, rhythmically diverse and brimming over with sparkling ornamentation and romantic intensity.
