PAMELA JORDAN

PAMELA JORDAN

Her singing has been called “honey-hued, meltingly sensual, arresting, sensitive, powerful…” Audiences often compare her vocals to everyone from pop singers Sade and Des’ree to the legendary jazz vocalist Sarah Vaughn. For the past few years Pamela Jordan has carved out a niche for herself as a jazz chanteuse playing clubs and coffee houses – and working as the featured vocalist for the Woody Hite and Dr. T. Big Band Orchestras.
Jordan was selected from more than 700 contestants as a finalist for the 1999 Lilith Fair Opening Act Contest. She also won the Portland Songwriters Association National Songwriting Contest’s pop category for her song The Fall of Love.
Her first CD, Standard Procedure garnered critical acclaim for Jordan’s rich, warm sound and masterful interpretation of jazz standards.
Her latest CD, The Fall of Love, Jordan uses her stellar vocal talent to perform expertly crafted original songs.
Working with lyricist/novelist Brian Christopher (frequently used by well-known Canadian singer/songwriter Geno Vanelli), the two have written tunes that cross musical genres, and move listeners with every track on the 10 song disc. http://www.pamelajordan.com/

FRENCH CABARET

HEATHER KEIZUR & STEVE CHRISTOFFERSON

Whether singing in English or French, this dazzling vocalist projects the inner beauty of herself and the song she sings, straight to the heart of the listener. (Tom Grant, Pianist, Vocalist, Recording Artist, Producer)

Heather has the ability to captivate the audience with her voice. They are rapt, waiting for the next note. (Tony Starlight, Owner Tony Starlight's Supperclub & Lounge)
If I had to think of one word to describe Heather Keizur the musician, I would say 'passionate.' Passionate in her performance, passionate in her preparation for performance, and passionate about the material she presents.(Alan Tarpinian, Drummer, Classical Guitarist)

He's been described as "one of the Northwest's most inventive pianists," (Willamette Week) with "a deft, lyrical touch and fevered imagination." (Victoria Times-Colonist) His trio is "focused, a very cohesive group capable of exploring standards and lesser-known jazz pieces with a soul and drive that hearkens all the way back to Monk, Garner and Bud Powell." (Cadence Magazine) His originals are "among the best compositions you'll hear on the local scene," (Dan DePrez) and David Frishberg says "Steve gets a great sound and plays with real authority and impeccable taste...he's one of my favorite piano players." In the Egyptian Arabic language it is known as raqs sharqi or sometimes raqs baladi; literally dance of country, and so national or folk dance. The term belly dance is a creation of Orientalism, first used in English in 1899, and translating in French to danse du ventre.

TONY PACINI & KACY COLLEEN

TONY PACINI

The jazz piano artistry of Tony Pacini has been enthusiastically enjoyed by nightclub and festival audiences throughout the West coast as well as in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. Born in Tokyo, Japan (May, 1970), while his father, (a consumate musician) was on the road at the time; pianist Tony Pacini came to Portland, Oregon as an infant. Tony's exposure to music began at an early age, having the added benefits of growing up in a musical family including three uncles, two aunts and a father all of whom were experienced musicians. A piano student since age 5, Tony led his first trio as a teenager, holding down weekends at a popular jazz spot. The piano made higher education possible for Tony, including study at Boston's prestigious Berklee College Of Music, courtesy of a all-tuition paid scholarship from jazz critic Leonard Feather. Upon returning to Portland Tony immersed himself in the jazz scene performing with, most notably: Leroy Vinnegar, Bud Shank, Harry Allen, Ritchie Cole, Carl Saunders, Chuck Israels, Dan Faehnle, Claudio Roditi, Hadley Calliman, Mel Brown, Ron Steen, Nancy King and Rebecca Kilgore. In addition to leading the Tony Pacini Trio, Tony Pacini is the pianist and musical director of the Mel Brown Quartet as well as producer of the Mel Brown Quartet's new hit release, "Live: An Evening With The Mel Brown Quartet".

KACY COLLEEN

After a 5 year stint studying and working in LA, Colleen returned to Portland and formed a voice/guitar duo called “Nouveau 2” and recorded Sojourn, a compilation of guitar/vocal duets. Eventually, Kacy dropped the name “Nouveau 2” and expanded the instrumentation of the group, often including flute or saxophone. Kacy’s second recording, “You Were Meant For Me” is a collection of favorite tunes performed in an array of instrumentation, from duo to sextet. In addition to recording and performing, Kacy Colleen created “Jazz Notes,” a special feature for local jazz station, KMHD. Colleen researched, recorded and produced a series of audio “portraits” of some of the greatest jazz artists. Over the years her concerts have included a promotional tour of California, the Portland Mayor’s Ball, the Mt. Hood Festival of Jazz, North by Northwest, and performances at many of the Northwest’s best jazz venues. She has continued to build listener support with favorable press, radio airplay, her mailings and sales of the recordings.

TASTING BOURGOGNE

DOMAINE DROUHIN
- Macon Village 2006 Chardonnay:

Mâcon-Villages is a flowery, fruity wine with a clear and brilliant hue. It has a crisp, medium body and a clean, lean acidity. Very pleasant finish. As with other white wines, Mâcon-Villages should be served chilled but not cold. It is meant to be enjoyed in its youth within 2 years. By itself as an aperitif. Easy to match with food, it will be best with white meat dishes or sea food.It is a perfect accompaniment to full flavored fish dishes and charcuterie.

- Laforêt 2006 Pinot Noir:
The hue has a brilliant ruby-garnet color. The nose offers effusive aromas of crushed berries (raspberry, redcurrant, andblackcurrant come to mind). On the palate, the wine is full of charm and very pleasant to drink : fresh and fruity berry flavors with light and elegant tannins. Drink young, up to two or three years. We recommend to serve the Laforêt at 15°-16°C (61F). Easy to match with food, it will be best with assorted delicatessen, poultry, white meat, "au gratin" dishes, roasted meat and soft cheeses.
